THE CUP THAT STARTED IT ALL
It was mile 9 of a 14-mile summit push, 5:45am, and the only coffee in camp was a packet of instant that tasted like burnt cardboard dissolved in lukewarm water. We drank it anyway. We always do. But somewhere between that first bitter sip and the summit, we got annoyed enough to do something about it.
Turns out, nobody was roasting coffee for people like us – people who need caffeine to work as hard as a trail runner, pack as light as an ultralight tent, and taste good even when brewed in a dented steel mug at altitude.
So we started roasting our own. Delicious batches, tested on actual trails, judged by actual hikers – not a marketing team in an office.
/ OUR VALUES
OUR TRAIL RULES
1. Growers Deserve Better
We buy direct from farms, paying above fair-trade minimums. Good coffee starts with people being paid fairly to grow it.
2. Coffee Should Work as Hard as You Do
Every blend is tested outdoors – on actual hikes, actual camp stoves, actual cold mornings – before it ever reaches a shelf.
3. Simple Ingredients, No Shortcuts
No fillers, no flavor-oil shortcuts, no mystery blends. What’s on the bag is what’s in the cup.

FOUNDER / HEAD ROASTER

Jeannie Serfontein
Joined Trailblaze a little further down the trail, bringing the operational know-how to help it grow beyond a garage hobby. Keeps the business running as smoothly as the roasts.

/ WHERE WE’RE HEADED
STILL ROASTING, STILL CLIMBING
We’re not trying to be the biggest coffee company out there – we’re trying to be the one hikers actually trust. That means staying direct with our growers, and never shipping a bag we wouldn’t pack ourselves.
Every order still gets checked by someone who’s actually been on a trail. That’s not changing.
